WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 3, 2018) – The Tars continued their Baseball Week gauntlet with a contest against Assumption, where the Tars earned their third straight victory, 17-1 over the Greyhounds.
The Tars win their third straight to improve to 10-7 overall, while Assumption drops to 3-7 on the season.
Luke Reidy (DH) – 3-4, 1 run scored, 1 RBI, 2 doubles
Brian Brooker (IF) – 3-4, 2 runs scored, 3 RBI
Cameron Enck got the start on the mound for Rollins. The Junior pitched in five innings allowing just three hits and no runs, while alos generating nine strikeouts. Enck also picked up his second win of the campaign. Whit Drennan and Caleb Jakes also made appearances on the hill, with both of them recording four strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Rollins got on the board early with a Bryce Peterson single up the middle, which plated Nick Santucci for the opening score. The Tars weren't done in the bottom of the first, when Brooker would also single up the middle allowing Nick Breen to cross home plate for a 2-0 lead.
- The Tars would add to their lead in the bottom of the second, when Luke Reidy doubled to right center, bringing home Sam LaFontaine for a 3-0 advantage.
- Breen would hit a sacrifice fly deep to center field, allowing Reidy to tag up and score from third to increase the Tars advantage to 4-0.
- Assumption would finally get on the board in the top of the seventh to bring the score to 4-1 in favor of the Tars still.
- A handful of errors by the Greyhounds allowed Rollins to tally six runs in the bottom of the seventh.
- It was once again Rollins controlling the scoreboard, as they were able to tack on another seven runs against Assumption to ensure their victory, 17-1.
NOTES:
• Ten different Tars recorded at least one hit in the win over Assumption
• Rollins leads the all-time series vs Assumption 9-2
• Head Coach Jon Sjogren is 330-306-3 in his 13th season at the helm of Rollins baseball

The Tars will turn around and play Concordia to continue Baseball Week at Alfond Stadium. First pitch is slated for Friday, March 9 at 3:00 pm.
