Tars Take Top-25 Tussle

No. 19 Rollins – 5
No. 24 Nova Southeastern – 4

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 24, 2018) – Facing a depleted Sharks roster, Rollins captured a top-25 contest against Nova Southeastern.  The No. 19 Tars improve to 10-6 overall and 3-2 in Sunshine State Conference play.  The No. 24 Sharks fall to 5-9 on the season and 3-3 in SSC action.

The Tars nationally ranked doubles team of Fabiana Vitanza and Alexandra Borg got the Tars off on the right foot.  The No. 29 duo took the top position match by a convincing 8-2 score-line.  Rollins got a second doubles point by default, as the Sharks could not field a third position partnership.

Without the services of their fifth and sixth court players, the Sharks handed the Tars another pair of points to begin singles action.  Katie Dyson then continued her stellar campaign, delivering the knockout blow in the third position.  The 6-2, 6-1 victory moves the London, England native's record to 7-1 on the year.

The Tars will continue SSC play on the road next week.  Coach Bev Buckley and the team will make their way to Daytona Beach to face the Embry-Riddle Eagles on Tuesday, March 27, at 3:30 p.m.
