DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 27, 2018) – The Tars picked up a key Sunshine State Conference win by flying passed the Embry-Riddle Eagles, 6-3. With the win Rollins improves to 11-6 on the year and 4-2 in SSC action. The Eagles drop to 6-8 in 2018, and 1-5 in conference play.
The Tars took a pair of the double matches to jump out to a 2-1 lead early. Teresa Kaiser and Katie Dyson continue their dominant play in second position, taking a 8-2 decision. Savanna Fuller and Marie Debruyn battled for the third court victory, winning 9-7.
Debruyn captured the the Tars' first win of singles play, and third point overall, taking the sixth position match 6-3, 6-4. Dyson brought the Tars to the verge of victory, sailing by Georgina Wood 6-2, 6-2, in the third spot. Fuller won the decisive point for Rollins, picking up a6-3, 6-4 win in the fifth position. Alexandra Borg put the exclamation point on the Tars' victory. The sophomore took the second court match in three sets, recovering after a second set defeat to take the rubber match in a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 duel.
The Tars will continue SSC play eight days from now, when they host Eckerd to the Bart Martin Tennis Complex on Wednesday, April 4. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
