Tars Snake Bit Against St. Mary's

Rollins – 5
No. 7 St. Mary's (Tex) – 1

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (March 14, 2018) – The Tars scored a major doubles upset, but could not turn that into a team win, falling 5-1 to the No. 7 St. Mary's Rattlers in their final match in Las Vegas.  The Tars fall to 7-6 overall, while St. Mary's improves to 10-1.

Fabiana Vitanza and Alexandra Borg took the top position doubles match over the No. 9 team in the nation Kaylin Kruseman and Tyra Timm.  The senior and sophomore duo captured a convincing 8-5 win.  However, Rollins could not take another match, and trailed 2-1 after double action.

The Rattlers swept the first three singles matches to capture the overall win.  The third, fifth, and sixth singles matches went unfinished.  Katie Dyson and Savanna Fuller took sets in the third and fifth matches, while Teresa Kaiser was locked in a tight sixth court battle.

The Tars will now return home where they will continue nonconference play by hosting West Virginia State on Tuesday, March 20 at 4 p.m.
