Tars Triumph Over Yellow Jackets in Rain Delayed Match

Rollins – 7
West Virginia State– 2 

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 21, 2018) – After being forced to delay their match a day due to weather, the Tars easily handled the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets, 7-2, a day later than originally scheduled.  With the win Rollins improves to 8-6 on the year, while WVSU falls to 10-3. 

The Tars started the match by sweeping doubles play in dominating fashion.  Fabiana Vitanza and Alex Borgcruised home 8-1 in the top position.  Teresa Kaiser and Katie Dyson continued their strllar team play with an 8-4 second position win.  And Savanna Fuller and Marie Debruyn shutout their foes to take the match on court three, 8-0. 

The Yellow Jackets would take the top two singles matches, but Rollins would capture three, four, five and six to earn the victory.  On the third court Dyson sailed to a 6-3, 6-4 decision.  In the fourth spot Carlye Goldman win a first set tiebreak on her way to a 7-6 (2), 6-3 win.  Fuller tallied the straight set victory in spot five with a 6-1, 6-2 win.  While Debruyn tallied her second shutout of the day, taking the sixth position match 6-0, 6-0.
