Tars Fall in Rain-Delayed Opener

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 5, 2018) – In a season opener that had to be extended over two days, the Tars fell to Keiser by a score of 7-2.  Doubles play finished on Sunday, February 4, but rain forced singles play to be postponed to Monday, February 5.

Rollins fell in a hole early, as they were unable to take a doubles match from the Seahawks.  Keiser boasts three of the top-15 doubles pairs in the NAIA.

The teams would battle under the lights at Bert Martin Tennis complex on their second day of competiton.  Keiser would capture victories in the first four singles positions to lock down the team win.  Rollins would get on the board with wins in the fifth and sixth spots.  Teresa Kaiser cruised in the fifth spot, winning her match 6-3, 6-2.  Marie Debruyn recovered from a first set tiebreaker loss to win the the final two sets, and the sixth position match.

Rollins will face State College of Florida in an exhibition match before hosting Gustavus Adolphus on Friday. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
