MELBOURNE, Fla. (February 20, 2018) – Rollins began another busy week making the short trip to Melbourne, where they jumped out to an early lead over the Panthers and never looked back, taking the match, 7-2.
Rollins improves to 4-2 overall this campaign.
The Tars took all three of the doubles matches against the Panthers. Fabiana Vitanza and Alexandra Borg got things started and took the first match 8-5, followed by Carlye Goldman and Savanna Fuller who won their doubles matchup in the two spot, 8-4. Teresa Kaiser and Marie Debruyn capped the third doubles match with an 8-6 win, completing the doubles sweep for Rollins.
Borg, a sophomore from Oslo, Norway, would tally another win for Rollins when she defeated FIT's Kayla Hergott, 7-6 (4), and 6-2. Wins by Fuller (6-3, 6-1), Kaiser (6-0, 6-0), and Debruyn (3-6, 6-4, and 10-8) sealed the Tars victory over Sunshine State Conference rivals Florida Tech.
Rollins will now turn their attention to No. 5 West Florida. The Tars and the Argos will face off at the USTA National Campus, in Orlando, on Friday, February 23, at 6 p.m.
