WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (February 17, 2018) – Fresh off an upset of No. 6 Flagler, Rollins kept the momentum going, winning their Sunshine State Conference opener over Palm Beach Atlantic in dominating fashion, 8-1. The Tars improve to 3-1 on the year, while the Sailfish fall to 3-4.
The Tars took two of the three doubles matches, winning in the first and second positions. Fabiana Vitanza and Alexandra Borg controlled the first spot, winning 8-1. Savanna Fuller and Carlye Goldman did not struggle in the second spot, earning the 8-3 win.
The Tars then swept the singles matches. Vitanza again cruised in the first spot, winning 6-0, 6-2. Borg picked up her second win of the day, and the match clinching point, in a three set match in the second court. Goldman also needed three sets to dispel her competition in the third spot. Savanna Fuller battled through the first set before easing her way home in the second with a straight set, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 victory. Teresa Kaiser also won a three set marathon. Marie Debruyn's sixth position, straight set, win completed the sweep for Rollins.
Rollins will turn around quickly for another SSC match. The Tars will face defending National Champions Barry, tomorrow, Sunday, February 18, with first serve set for 10 a.m.
