Tars Upset No. 6 Saints

Rollins – 5
No. 6 Flagler – 4 

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (February 15, 2018) – The Tars jumped out to an early lead against No. 6 Flagler, and held on through singles play to upset the Saints 5-4.  Rollins improves to 2-1 on the year, while Flagler falls to 1-4 this season. 

Rollins swept the doubles matches to jump out to a 3-0 lead.  Fabiana Vitanza and Alexandra Borg won a tough match against Lizanne Jinkertz and Camila Ramazzini, 9-8, winning 7-5 in the tiebreaker.  Carlye Goldman and Savanna Fuller picked up the second position victory 8-6.  Teresa Kaiser and Marie Debruyn completed the sweep, cruising to an 8-3 win in the third spot. 

Alex Borg battled to her second win of the evening, giving the Tars their fourth win, in the second singles position.  She defeated Ramazzini again, this time by a score of 7-5, 6-2.  Savanna Fuller clinched the win out of the fourth spot, getting the Tars fifth win by downing Alessandra Traub 6-4, 6-3. 

Rollins continues a busy week as they travel south to open Sunshine State Conference play with matches against Palm Beach Atlantic, on Saturday, February 17, and No. 2 Barry on Sunday, February 18.
