BOCA RATON, Fla. (April 8, 2017) - The No. 8
Lynn Fighting Knights proved to be too much for the No. 28 Tars, as
Rollins fell 8-1 on the day. With the loss Rollins drops to 7-9
overall and 1-3 in Sunshine State Conference play. Lynn improves
to 17-2 on the year, and remain perfect, 5-0, in SSC action.
The Fighting Knights controlled doubles play, sweeping the team
matches to take a 3-0 lead.
The Tars battled to get back into the match in singles play, but
Lynn asserted their strength, with nationally ranked players
appearing in each of the first three positions. Sami
Kirberg picked up the lone Rollins win of the match, defeating
Jose Porfirio 7-5, 1-6, 12-10 in the fifth spot. Patrick
Sell forced a third set against the country's sixth ranked
player, Mehdi Laalej, but ultimately fell 6-3, 3-6, 10-6.
The Tars will finish their trip to south Florida with a match at
No. 49 Palm Beach Atlantic tomorrow, Sunday, April 9. First serve
is set for 1 p.m.
