SET-UP:
The Rollins women's lacrosse team travels to Lakeland,
Fla. on Friday for a 6 p.m. Sunshine State Conference Tournament
Semifinal clash with the sixth-ranked and second-seeded Florida
Tech Panthers. The ninth-ranked and third-seeded Tars are set to
get underway against the Panthers at 6 p.m. at Bryant Stadium, and
live coverage will be provided by host institution and top-seeded
Florida Southern.
This marks the second-straight season the Tars have matched up
with the Panthers in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament
Semifinals. Last year, Rollins took down the Panthers by a final
score of 15-14 at Bryant Stadium in the SSC Semifinal tilt, which
advanced them to the tournament championship game where they fell
to eventual 2016 National Champions, Florida Southern.
The Tars enter into Friday night's showdown with a record of
12-4, and most recently checked in at No. 9 on the latest IWCA DII
Poll. Rollins is coming off of a 14-10 loss to then ninth-ranked
Florida Tech on April 20. The then sixth-ranked Tars saw a hat
trick from sophomore Kallie
German, while freshmen Hannah
Ashton and Maggie
Dougherty scored two goals apiece. Lindsay
Van Beck led the team in ground balls with three, while Ashton
won a team high four draw controls. Both Jessica
Kopenhaver and Van Beck caused two turnovers apiece to lead the
team. In goal, Malorie
Olin made five saves while allowing 14 goals.
Florida Tech enters into the Sunshine State Conference
Tournament Semifinals riding a four-game win streak, including a
hard-fought victory over the Tars on April 20 in Winter Park.
Against the Tars, Sara Grenier led the team in goals with four,
while Allie Modica, Carline Dunleavy, and Lauren Tybor each netted
a hat trick on the night. Stephanie Stuart, Tybor, and Olivia
Going picked up three ground balls each to lead the team, while
Modica and Tybor led the Panthers with three draw controls each.
Sam Schiano and Going earned a team best three caused turnovers
apiece. In goal, Stuart earned four saves in 60 minutes of play
while allowing 10 goals by the Tars.
TRACKING THE TARS:
Kallie
German leads the team in goals (40), assists (25), and points
(65) so far this season, followed by Hannah
Ashton with 36 goals and three assists for 39 points. Paige
Brock follows with 34 points, having tallied 28 goals and six
assists, followed by Brittany
Eveler and Maggie
Dougherty with 24 goals each. Eveler has added five assists
for 29 points, while Dougherty has contributed a team second-best
16 assists for 40 points, good for second best on the team. Hannah
Coakley, Lily
Rizk, and Megan
Cury wrap up the double-digit goal count with 14, 11, and 11,
respectively. Olin leads the team in ground balls with 27,
followed by Sophie
Stavisky and Maddie
Hendren with 23. Close behind are Jessica
Kopenhaver and Dougherty with 22 and 21, respectively. Leading
the team on the draw is Dougherty with 36, followed by Paige
Brock with 29 and Rizk with 25. Defensively, Lindsay
Van Beck has caused a team high 26 turnovers, followed by
German with 14, and Hendren with 13. In goal, Olin has played a
total of 8233 minutes and has faced 257 shots in 16 games played.
Olin has earned 102 saves for a save percentage of .500, and has
allowed just 102 goals this season, averaging 7.43 per
game.
TRACKING THE PANTHERS:
With 14 games under their belts this season, Sara Grenier leads
the team in goals with 49. Allie Modica follows close behind with
43 goals on the year, and has added a team high 17 assists to lead
the team in overall points with 60. Caroline Dunleavy has notched
33 goals so far this year, followed by Sam Schiano with 24.
Dunleavy follows close behind Modica in assists with 15 on the
year, followed by Mary Gormley with 12. Behind Modica in overall
points, Grenier has added nine assists for a team second best 58
points, while Dunleavy has notched 48 points overall. Gormley
leads the team in ground balls with 44, followed by Schiano with 42
and Modica with 35. Leading the team in caused turnovers is
Schiano with 32, followed by Lauren Tybor with 23, and Gormley with
22. In goal, Stephanie Stuart has played in all 14 games, earning
13 starts. Stuart has faced 217 shots so far this season, earning
74 saves for a save percentage of .430. Stuart has allowed 98
goals in 693 minutes, averaging 8.48 goals per
game.

Tournament Semifinal action, Rollins earned the 15-14 victory in
the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Semifinals on April 29,
