BRADENTON, Fla. (April 22, 2017) - Rollins will
settle for fourth in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament,
after falling 5-1 to the second-seeded Saint Leo Lions in the
Consolation Game. The No. 28 Tars fall to 11-11 on the year, while
the No. 3 Lions improve to 13-4.
The Tars fell behind 3-0 at the conclusion of doubles play. Patrick
Sell and Sami
Kirberg battled Thomas Grinberg and Vincent Suillerot in the
first position, but ultimately fell 9-7.
The Lions bested the Tars in the first and third positions to
end the match. Cody
Gubin tallied the Tars lone win on the day, downing Oskar
Nurmio 6-3, 7-6 (10-8). Daniel
Ferl was up a set, out of the fifth positions, when the contest
was decided. Francesco
Racanelli had battled back from a first set defeat to to even
his match in the second spot.
Rollins will learn their fate on Tuesday, April 25, at 8:30 p.m.
during the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Selection Show.
