MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (April 29, 2017) - The Tars
2017 campaign came to an end in the first round off the NCAA South
Region II Tournament, falling to the fifth-ranked Valdosta State
Blazers by a score of 5-0. Rollins ends the year with a record of
11-12, while VSU progresses to the South Region II Final, against
Barry, with a record of 16-5.
Rollins dropped all three of the doubles matches, leaving them
with an uphill climb entering singles play. Ahmed
Albitar and Daniel
Ferl put up the strongest fight for the Tars, falling 8-6 in
the second position.
The Blazers captured the first two singles decisions, coming out
of the first and fifth poitions, to seal their victory. Francesco
Racanelli and Sami
Kirberg were both locked in tight battles, in the second and
third spots when the match was called. Ziad
Melhaoui was leading Fernando Rivas in the fourth spot.
The loss concludes the Tars' 2017 campaign.
