WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 17, 2017) - Rollins
could not come up with some timely hits, falling to the Saint Leo
Lions for the second time in as many days. With the loss Rollins
falls to 15-8 on the year, and 1-3 in Sunshine State Conference
play. Saint Leo improves to 13-10, and 1-3 against SSC
competition.
The Tars out hit Lions tallying 12 base knocks to Saint Leo's
nine; Rollins also only committed one error, against two for Saint
Leo. The difference in the game was runners left on base, with
Rollins stranding 11, including leaving the bases loaded twice.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
· The Tars got on the board first, Isaiah
Russell scoring on a Nick
Breen sacrifice fly. The Tars followed the run with three
straight singles to load the bases, but could not push another
runner home.
· Saint Leo responded in the second, Alex Mata scoring
on Chase Turner single to right field.
· Rollins took the lead back in the fourth. The Tars
loaded the bases with no outs, chasing the Lion's starter, Tyler
Bauman. Rollins scored on a Peter
Nicoletto fielder's choice, but could not get anymore, ending
the frame with a 2-1 advantage.
· The Lions took the lead for good in the sixth with a
pair of RBI doubles. Saint Leo extended their lead in the next
frame, manufacturing a run to take a 4-2 lead into the seventh
inning stretch.
· The Tars put one run across in the eighth. Mike
Purcell scored on a throwing error, after a Grant
Ashline bunt single. The Tars has runners at second and third
with no outs, and bases loaded with two outs, but could not
generate the tying run, stranding three on the base
paths.

Nicoletto's RBI in the fourth was his team leading
24th of the season.
· The all-time series between Rollins an Saint Leo now
stands at 86-84-3 in favor of the Tars.

games in a four day stretch, finishing off the series, with a
