SET-UP:

Coming off of a hard-fought loss that saw the then 20th-ranked Rollins men's lacrosse team fall to the then-No. 14 Lenoir-Rhyne Bears by a final score of 14-12 last weekend, the Tars will look to get back to their winning ways on Sunday when they square up against the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds in Indianapolis, Ind. Game coverage provided by UIndy will include both live stats and a live broadcast hosted on the Great Lakes Valley Conference Sports Network. The Tars, who enter into Sunday's contest ranked 2-1 on the young season, received votes on the first USILA Division II Coaches Poll of the Season this past week.

After opening up their 2017 campaign earning a nod at No. 15 on the USILA DII Preseason Poll, the UIndy Greyhounds find themselves also receiving votes on the Week 1 poll after a hard-fought 6-5 loss to Rockhurst in their season opener. The Greyhounds ended their inaugural 2016 campaign ranked 19th on the USILA DII Poll, and closed out their first season in program history in the semifinal round of the ECAC Tournament where they lost to then-No. 4 Mercyhurst by a final score of 9-7.

TRACKING THE TARS:

Rollins will look to Justin Diamond to lead the way on Sunday against the Greyhounds. Diamond, who has started all three games for the Tars, has earned nine points on the season and leads the team with eight goals. Sophomore Greg Taicher enters into Sunday leading the team with 11 points after racking up a team best seven assists so far this season, and adding four goals. Lucas Brush leads the team in ground balls so far this season with 10, followed by Trey LaPorta with eight, and Andrew Matthews with seven. Roy Hansen and Austin Jackson lead the team in caused turnovers so far this season with three apiece. On the faceoff, LaPorta has won 41-of-64, while Brett Portera has won 6-of-8. In goal, Jake Hogan has started the last two contests, earning 16 saves while allowing 20 goals. Hogan currently has a 10.0 goals against average while facing 60 shots this season, and has accumulated a save percentage of .444 on the season. Landon Salie started in the Tars' season opener, allowing nine goals while earning five saves as he faced 20 shots. Salie has a goals against average of 9.0 and has earned a save percentage of .357 in his freshman campaign.

TRACKING THE GREYHOUNDS:

After one game, UIndy is led in goals by Parker Kump with two, while Sam Horning, Matthew Johnson and Parker Johnson have each tallied one. Tyler Johnston leads the team in assists with two, followed by Eric Lounds, Max Groves, and Shawn Kimble with one apiece. Ian Genord, Adam Dobis, Groves, and Johnston lead the team with two ground balls each. Jake Vittmeyer holds onto a team high two caused turnovers on the Greyhounds' young season. UIndy has struggled at the faceoff-x, with Cyle Moskowitz winning 2-of-8, and Dominic Guarino going 0-for-5 from the line. In goal, Jarod Kimble has allowed six goals while earning 14 saves, compiling a save percentage of .700 in one contest.

NOTES:

  • Rollins leads the all-time series with UIndy, 1-0.
  • The last time the Tars matched up against the Greyhounds, a staunch Rollins defense helped the Tars to a 9-7 victory over the first-year UIndy squad at Barker Family Stadium and Cahall-Sandspur Field on March 16, 2016.

Rollins returns to action for their home opener on Thursday, March 2, when they host Wheeling Jesuit at Barker Family Stadium.
