FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (October 7, 2017) – After dropping a five-set marathon the night before, Rollins left no doubt Saturday afternoon, beating Nova Southeastern 3-0 at Rick Case Arena. The Tars took the first 25-20, outlasted NSU 28-26 in the second and closed the door with a 25-21 third set win.
The Tars improve to 5-8 overall and 4-5 in Sunshine State Conference action while dropping the Sharks to 4-8, 2-6 SSC.
Rollins hit a season-best .350 on the day and earned a third sweep of the season, the second in SSC play.
Bri Civiero and Shannon McDonough led the Tars attack with both posting double-doubles. Civiero rolled up 16 kills and 12 digs with two blocks while McDonough recorded 12 kills and 10 digs. Cassidy Cason had a second big game in a row, totaling 43 assists, and Sam Schlesman led the way with four block assists.
Denvyr Tyler-Palmer provided the bulk of the offense for NSU, posting a game-high 21 kills on the night. She also notched six digs and three block assists. Samantha Blasko, Nicole Rivera and Kim Blasko each tallied five kills. Megan Burns led the way with 11 digs.

The Rollins volleyball team returns to action when they travel to Hoover, Alabama, for the 2017 South Regions Crossover. All eleven Sunshine State Conference teams will compete against members of the Gulf South Conference during the two-day event. Matches will be played October 13-14 at the Finley Center. Seeding for the crossover will be determined at a later date. Since the event began in 2015, the SSC has won 55 of the 66 South Region Crossover matches.
