MELBOURNE, Fla. (September 10, 2016) - After
having the first meet canceled due to Hurricane Hermine, Rollins
men's and women's cross country teams finally kicked off the 2016
slate Saturday at the Florida Tech Invitational in Melbourne.
Rollins women's team totaled 386 points and finished
10th while the men were 11th with 339 points.
The event served as a preview of the Sunshine State Conference
Championship which will be held at the same venue at the end of the
season.
Nicole Hubert posted a time of 22:56 in the women's 5k race to
lead the Tars in 96th place Rebecca Gakawaya was
98th in a time of 23:01 and Mirya Furkukawa was
105th in 23:11. Katie Ross took 110th
(23:32), Abygail Wong was 111th (23:35) and Katie Rioux
112th (23:55). Camryn Grudowski rounded out the Tars
effort with a 117th place finish and time of 23:39.
Michael Dulman was the top men's runner, finishing
95th in 34:24 over the 8k course. Tyler Schneider
finished 96th with a time of 35:27 and Luke Parsley was
99th in 35:42. Daniel Pritzker stopped the clock at
36:23 in 102nd place, Michael Mozzicato was
104th in 43:35 and Cyrus Bonyage was 105th in
45:31.
Rollins will be back on the course Saturday, September
17th at the Ascis Embry-Riddle Invitational. The men's
race is schedule to begin at 7:20 a.m. followed by the women at
7:50.
