WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 17, 2016) - The Rollins College softball team had two games slip away at home on Sunday afternoon as Barry University edged the Tars in extra innings in game one, 10-9, before defeating Rollins 5-4 in game two. With the two wins, Barry sweeps Rollins for the first time since 2008.

Rollins falls to 33-12-1 overall and 13-5 in conference while Barry jumps to 22-14 and 14-7 in SSC play.

Both teams went toe for toe offensively in game one as the bats came alive early. Barry wasted no time getting on the board as Sam Busekrus hit a two-run single to put the Buccaneers up 2-0 in the top of the first. Rollins tied the game in the bottom half of the inning after Tiffany Osmanski hit an RBI single and Courtney Durbin hit into a fielder's choice that scored Jule Kranz.

Barry would put up four more runs in the top of the second, but Rollins once again responded with a four-run inning of their own. Osmanski highlighted the inning with a two-run double to right center to tie the game at six apiece.

The Bucs scored a run in the third and fourth to lead the Tars 8-6. The Tars offense did not give up as Brittany Johnson led off the bottom of the fourth with a double to left center. The next batter, Kranz, also doubled to left center scoring Johnson and cutting the Bucs' lead to one. The senior shortstop then stole third and eventually scored on a throwing error by the catcher to even the score at 8-8.

The score stayed that way until the seventh when Barry used small ball to regain the lead. Rollins was down to their last out when Brianne Lint crushed a pinch-hit home run to tie the score at nine and send the game into extra innings. The Bucs were just too much for the Tars as Busekrus hit another RBI single to give Barry the 10-9 victory.

Anieliese Palmeiro collects the win for Barry while Niki Fogle takes the loss. Fogle pitched 10 innings, allowing 21 hits, 10 runs, and three walks while striking out two.

The second game of the day saw Barry jump out to an early lead again to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the third. Rollins responded in the fifth after Kranz scored on a fielder's choice. Grace Street then helped her cause in the circle by hitting a three-run home run to left field to put the Tars up 4-1.

Barry's bats could not be tamed as they answered with four-runs of their own in the top of the sixth. The Tars could not complete the comeback as the Buccaneers took the 5-4 win and completed the sweep.

Street went seven innings in the loss allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out two.

No. 17 Rollins will welcome No. 4 Saint Leo to Winter Park for a three-game weekend series. Game one is set for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22nd.
