BOCA RATON, Fla. (April 10, 2016) - The Rollins softball team completed the sweep of conference opponent, Lynn University, as the Tars took both games of the doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. The Tars defeated the Fighting Knights 6-0 in game one before topping Lynn in game two by a score o 3-2.

Rollins improves to 32-7-1 and 13-2 in conference while Lynn falls to 13-26-1 and 2-12-1 in the SSC.

Game one saw Niki Fogle retire the first nine hitters as both teams were scoreless after three innings. The Tars scored first as Hannah Horwath doubled to left center with two outs in the top of the fourth scoring Brittany Johnson from second. Next batter, Sid Masso drove a two-run single to center field scoring Courtney Durbin and Horwath to extend the lead to 3-0.

Rollins wasn't done there as Tiffany Osmanski sent a single up the middle scoring Jule Kranz from second in the fifth to increase the lead. Later in the inning, Chelsea Reed scored off a Johnson single to extend the Tars lead to 5-0.

The Tars added an insurance run in the seventh as Johnson scored off a Durbin double down the right field line. Fogle collected her 20th win of the season and the 100th of her career as the senior went seven innings allowing four hits, no walks and striking out six.

Rollins took an early lead again in game two as Hailee Keisling scored off a sacrifice fly by Reed in the top of the first to put Rollins up 1-0. Both offenses were quiet until the sixth when Fogle singled up the middle scoring Johnson and pushing the Tars lead to 2-0.

The Tars added another run in the seventh as Reed hit a ball to the shortstop and beat out a close throw, which helped Keisling score from third. That run ended up being the game-winner as the Fighting Knights scored two in the bottom of the seventh to come up just short.

Street collected the win as the freshman went four innings allowing two hits, no runs and striking out two. Fogle recorded her fourth save of the season.

Rollins will stay on the road as they travel to provisional SSC member, Embry-Riddle, on Tuesday and Wednesday for a three-game series. Game one is slated to start at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12th. For the latest news, updates, and information on the Rollins softball team, fans can visit RollinsSports.com.
