CLEARWATER, Fla. (February 7, 2016) - The Rollins softball team claimed a 4-1 victory over Colorado Christian on the last day of the Eckerd College Spring Invitational. Senior pitcher Niki Fogle picked up her first win of the season.

Rollins improves to 1-0-1 with the victory while Colorado Christian falls to 1-3 on the year.

Rollins took the lead in the bottom of the first after Hailee Keisling came all the way around to score on a throwing error by the second basemen after a Jule Kranz sacrifice bunt.

The next inning saw Fogle strike out the side to preserve the 1-0 lead.

Both teams would be quiet offensively for the next couple innings until the bottom of the fourth. That is when Hannah Horwath homered to left field scoring Courtney Durbin and Abigail Sexton to extend the Tar lead to 4-0. Rollins looked to add more as Sid Masso singled and then stole second base, but the Cougars were able to get two ground outs to end the inning.

Colorado Christian would get on the board in the in the next inning as senior Kristina Billante had a solo homerun to right field. That would be it for the Cougars as the Tars would close out the game.

Fogle was on-point all afternoon, holding the Cougars to just three hits over the seven innings. The senior allowed one earned run, struck out nine and had no walks.

Durbin went 1-1 with two walks while Horwath went 1-3 at the plate with three RBIs.

The Tars return to action on Friday as they take on Flagler College in a doubleheader in St. Augustine.
