CLEARWATER, Fla. (February 6, 2016) - The
Rollins softball team opened its 2016 campaign at the Eckerd Spring
Invitational on Saturday as they set to take on Valdosta State and
Ursuline (Oh.). Game 1 was called in the top of the seventh due to
rain so the Tars and Blazers ended in a 1-1 tie. Game 2 against
Ursuline has been postponed.
The Tars would get on the board first as Tiffany
Osmanski singled to left field bringing home Hailee
Keisling from second. Keisling reached second on a walk and a
stolen base.
The Blazers would respond in the bottom of the second after
loading the bases for Chelsea Canara. The junior would pop up to
short, but an error would allow Caylee Hancock to score from
third.
That would be it for either team, as the pitchers on both sides
would take control the rest of the way. Senior Niki
Fogle only gave up three hits while striking out six in the
tie.
Junior Hailee
Keisling had a solid afternoon against one of the premier
pitchers in the nation, going 2-3 with a walk. The game was
postponed in the top of the seventh as the rain made the field
unplayable. Officials decided to call the game two hours later
after the forecast was not improving.
The second game has been postponed against Ursuline. More
information will follow once a decision has been made.
The Tars return to action tomorrow as they take on Colorado
Christian at 11:30 a.m. from Clearwater. For the latest news,
