WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 12, 2016) - Rollins struggled to string together hits in the opener of their three game series with the Bentley Falcons, falling 4-3 on Friday night. With the loss the Tars' record drops to 2-5 overall, while they sit at 1-2 in Sunshine State Conference play. Bentley improves to 1-3 on the year.

Peter Nicoletto hit his second homerun of the season. The junior finished the evening 1-3, with one run and two RBI. Nick Breen was the only Tar with multiple hits. The leadoff man went 2-5 at the plate and scored a run.

Rollins threw four pitchers at the Falcons. Isaiah Sakany started, giving up three runs and striking out six in four innings of work. Sakany was relieved by Brandon Burgess. The Plantation, Florida native pitched 2.2 innings, giving up one run, striking out two, and receiving the loss. Patrick Heuler threw 1.1 innings, giving up only one hit. Brett Scafidi threw a perfect ninth inning, striking out two.

The Falcons were lead by Ryan O'Connor, who went 2-4 with an RBI, and Justin Ashworth who went 2-4 with a run scored. Bentley only sent two pitchers to the mound. Bill Sullivan earned the win, throwing six innings giving up three runs. He was relieved by Jack Burke, who gave up only two hits in three innings, securing the save.

Bentley jumped ahead early. The Falcons took advantage of a Nick Neshe leadoff double to spark a first inning run. Neshe would score on an O'Connor single. Zachary Littman then crossed the plate after an RBI single off the bat of Brandon Grover. At the end of the first inning Bentley had a 2-0 lead.

Rollins responded in the bottom of the second. After Christopher Corbett was walked, Nicoletto homered over the right field wall, bringing the score level at 2-2. Rollins would pull in front in the bottom of the third. Breen reached base with a leadoff single, eventually scoring on a wild pitch.

The Tars were unable to hold the lead for long, as Bentley tied the score in the top of the fourth. Ashworth scored on a Cameron Cruz RBI single. The Falcons would get the game winner in the top of the sixth. Mike Samko touched home on a fielder's choice. From that point on both teams relievers would shut down the others offense, and the game ended 4-3.

Rollins and Bentley will continue their three game series tomorrow, Saturday, February 13. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. For the latest news, updates, and information on the Rollins baseball team, fans can visit RollinsSports.com.
