SETUP:
Entering into their final two matches of their 2016 campaign,
the Rollins volleyball team is set to welcome Lynn University and
Barry University to Warden Arena. The Tars will square off against
the Fighting Knights at 7 p.m. on Friday evening, and will conclude
their season with a 5 p.m. Senior Day game against the Buccaneers
on Saturday. Fans who are unable to support the Tars in person
will be able to follow all of the action live on the Geico Tars
Sports Network on RollinsSports.com.

Civiero and Shannon
McDonough currently sit second and fifth in Sunshine State
Conference standings in kills per set, with Civiero averaging 3.93
in 55 sets played and McDonough posting a 3.61 average in 57 sets
this season. In total kills against SSC opponents, McDonough
currently sits sixth with 206, and Civiero sits fourth in SSC
standings with 216.
Through 29 matches played, Bri
Civiero leads the team with 449 kills, averaging 4.05 per set.
Fellow classmate Shannon
McDonough follows close behind with 439 kills in 110 sets
played, averaging 3.99 per set. McDonough and Civiero became the
first set of teammates in six seasons to reach 400+ kills in a
season. Two other Tars have notched kills in triple-digit figures,
with Sam
Schlesman posting 156 in 102 sets played, and Rachel
Fletcher tallying 144 in 67 sets played. Freshmen Gina
Cappetta and Cassidy
Cason have been the Tars' primary setters this season, with
Cappetta earning 671 assists in 77 sets played, and Cason posting
523 in her 63 sets played. Schlesman currently leads the team in
blocks, posting up 86 on the season, including a team best 14 solo
blocks. The sophomore is followed closely by MaryBethany
Vincent, who has put up 85 so far in her junior campaign,
including seven solo stops. Adding to the Tars' defensive efforts
is junior Rebecca
Wilson, who leads the team with 513 digs on the season.
Head Coach Mika
Robinson took over the Tars' program in February and
has aligned Rollins for success this season. She was head coach at
Berry College the past eight seasons, amassing a record of 169-88
with three conference championships and to NCAA Division III
Tournament berths.
Lynn:
Lynn University is led by Cleuza Porto with 366 kills through
104 sets played, averaging 3.52 per set. Lydia West has notched
334 kills in 106 sets played for an average of 3.15 per set.
Holding onto an impressive 1234 assists so far this season is
Marissa Tandron, who averages 11.53 per set. Katie Knight has
amassed a team best 464 digs in 107 sets, averaging 4.34 per set.
At the net, West leads the team with 81 blocks, including a team
high 21 solo blocks.
The Fighting Knights are led by Adam Milewski who was hired in
July of 2015, becoming the first male coach in program history and
eighth head coach overall. In his first season, Milewski led the
Fighting Knights to an overall record of 14-15 and 4-12 in Sunshine
State Conference action. He is assisted by Lydee Benoit Plexico,
Nick St. Thomas, and Ore Pablos.
Barry:
Leading the Buccaneers in kills is Jaeda Allen with 375 in 109
sets played, averaging 3.44 per set. Allen is followed by Ivana
Didanovic with 207 and Kristina Filimonova with 198. In all, seven
different Buccaneers have notched triple digit kill counts on the
season. Holding onto the team lead in assists is Jenny Trinidad
with 736 in 110 sets played, averaging 6.69 per set. Joining
Trinidad is Juliana Tirabassi with 349 in 79 sets for an average of
4.42 per set. Defensively, Kat Espinosa has compiled a team high
439 digs, followed by Ariel Mangum with 315. In total, six
different Bucs have earned triple-digit totals in digs so far this
season. At the net, Didanovic holds onto a team leading 101.0
blocks, followed by Filimonova with 98.0.
Barry is led by led by Steve Hendricks, who was named the sixth
head coach of Barry's volleyball program in 2011. In five seasons
Hendricks has led the Bucs to a record of 70-71. He is assisted by
Cinthia Angus and Sherwin Pereira.
NOTES:
Entering into their final two matches of the 2016 regular
season, the Tars hold onto an overall record of 11-18 and 3-11 mark
in SSC play. In their last eight matches, the Tars have taken
their opponents to at least four sets, with three matches going a
full five. Riding a four match losing streak, the Tars will look
to split the season series as they welcome Lynn and Barry to Warden
Arena.
Last time out against Lynn, the Tars fell to the Fighting
Knights by a final score of 3-1 back on Saturday, October 22. The
previous night against Barry in Miami Shores, Fla., Rollins fell to
the Buccaneers in straight sets, 3-0.
Lynn enters into Friday night's matchup riding a four match win
streak, including victories over conference leaders Saint Leo and
then 22nd-ranked Tampa last weekend. Barry is coming
off of a 3-1 loss to Saint Leo on the road on Wednesday, November
16, but took down the Lions on Saturday, November 12 in five
sets.
