ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (November 11, 2016)
- Playing in their first of two matches within five days
against Eckerd College, the Tars were unable to overcome a stalwart
Triton squad in a Friday night road match. The Tars dropped the
first two sets (23-25, 7-25) before earning a 25-19 Set 3 win, but
Eckerd claimed the 3-1 match victory as they came out on top in the
fourth set, 25-18. The loss drops Rollins to an 11-16 overall
record and 3-9 mark against Sunshine State Conference opponents,
while Eckerd advances to 16-12, and 8-6 in SSC action.
Junior outside hitter Bri
Civiero led the team in kills on the night with 15, followed by
classmate Shannon
McDonough with 12, and Rachel
Fletcher with 10. Freshman setter Gina
Cappetta dished out 42 of the Tars 47 assists on the night, and
led the team with two service aces. Junior Rebecca
Wilson notched a match high 20 digs, followed by Civiero with
15, and Fletcher with 14. Putting up the blocks was MaryBethany
Vincent with a team high four, while Sam
Schlesman posted the Tars' lone solo block on the day.
The Tritons were led in kills by Mackenzie Redner, who earned 17
on the night, followed by Stephanie Karlovics with 15 and Kalie
Boatwright with 13. Gabriella Reis notched a squad best 48
assists, and matched Boatwright in service aces with a team high
two each. Kaitlyn Sibson scooped up a team high 18 digs, followed
by Boatwright with 16 and Reis with 11. Jaquayla Baker matched
Vincent at the net, putting up four total blocks while leading the
match with two solo stops.

400+ kills in a season.
