DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (October 18, 2016) - Facing the Embry-Riddle Eagles for the second time this season, the Rollins volleyball team put up a hard fight but fell in five on Tuesday evening at the ICI Center in Daytona Beach, Fla. The 3-2 loss (19-25, 25-17, 25-23, 24-26, 7-15) moves the Tars to 9-9 on the season, while the Eagles advance to 10-7 overall.

Junior Bri Civiero led the team in kills with 22, and added 11 digs for her ninth double-double of the season. Fellow junior Shannon McDonough earned 21 kills and a team high 24 digs as she notched her 10th double-double of the season. McDonough led the team in digs with 24, followed by Rebecca Wilson with 22. Newcomer Jaime Becker added 13 digs of her own on the evening. On the assist, Gina Cappetta racked up a match high 34. NOTES:

  • With her 22 digs this evening, Rebeca Wilson has notched 942 total in her career. With 13 matches left to play in the season, the junior from Winter Haven, Fla. is on pace to eclipse the 1000 dig mark before season's end.

  • Civiero notched a team high 22 kills on the evening. With a team high 65 total attacks, and 12 errors, Civiero ended the match with a .154 hitting percentage. The junior from Mount Dora, Fla. earned her ninth double-double of the season.

  • Civiero matched a career high in total attacks with 65, which she first set two years ago to the day on October 18, 2014.

  • Shannon McDonough notched 21 kills and a team high 24 digs to earn her 10th double-double of the season. Her 24 digs matched a career high, which she first set on Sept. 14 against Flagler.

  • The match was tied on 29 different occasions, including 11 times in both the third and fourth sets.

  • Despite the match being tied 29 times, there were only five lead changes throughout the match - once in the first set, and two times in both sets three and four.

COACH ROBINSON'S THOUGHTS:

"I was really pleased with how we battled in sets 2-4, and we saw improvements in all of the things that we have been working on in practice. Embry-Riddle did a great job staying aggressive and blocked very well. We will focus on getting one percent better again tomorrow."
