PENSACOLA, Fla. (May 2, 2014) - In a rematch of
last year's NCAA South Regional Semifinal, the sixth-seeded Tars
drew third-seeded Lynn on Saturday and came from behind, down 4-3
to win 5-4.
No. 11 Rollins improves to 15-9 while No. 6 Lynn drops to 16-5.
The Tars will play No. 3 West Florida in Pensacola on Sunday, May 3
at 1 p.m.
Making their NCAA record 32nd NCAA Postseason appearance, the
Tars were ahead 2-1 after Robin Marchione and Malte
Christesen won at three doubles 9-8 in a tiebreak and the No.
20-ranked team of Anton
Bettink/Adrian Di
Felice won 9-8 in a tiebreak.
No. 5 Anton
Bettink gave the Tars the 3-1 lead after beating No. 8 Danny
Riggs for the third time this year. Lynn took the 4-3 lead after
winning at number 2, 3 and 6 singles. It was up to the Tars Malte
Christesen and Adrian Di
Felice to come through with wins at four and five singles.
Christesen came through with a third set win that finished 6-4,
tying the match at 4-4. Di Felice clinched the match for the Tars
as he won in three sets and finished the match with a 6-3 third set
win.
