LAKELAND, Fla. (April 2, 2015) - Nick
Breen continued his 10-game hitting streak and Rollins managed
11 hits on the day but the Tars fell 6-3 to Florida Southern.
The Tars drop to 15-19 and 2-11 in conference play while Florida
Southern goes to 13-15 and 3-7 in the SSC.
Blake
Hutton went 2-for-2 while Christian
Coburn and Carlos
Garmendia each added a pair of hits on the day. Peter
Nicoletto, Breen, Zach
Persky, Bryan
Perlmutter and Alex
Miller all had one hit apiece as Rollins had 11.
Matthew
Tulley received the start for Rollins, going 7.0 innings and
allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits. Caleb
Jakes finished the final inning, allowing one run on two
hits.
The Tars struck first in the top of the fourth inning as Breen
and Persky singles brought Coburn to the plate who delivered with a
2 rbi base hit up the middle as Rollins led 2-0.
Florida Southern answered in the bottom of the fourth, scoring
four runs on four hits to take a 4-2 lead.
Rollins answered in the sixth as Bryan
Perlmutter drove in Blake
Hutton to cut the Moccasins lead to 4-3, but Florida Southern
had an answer again in the bottom of the sixth, scoring one run on
two hits.
FSC added one more run on two hits in the eighth to seal the 6-3
win.
Rollins resumes play at Florida Southern on Friday, April 3 at 1
p.m.
