Lynn Offensive Attack Sinks Tars 13-8

BOCA RATON, Fla. (April 24, 2015) - Skip Kovar went 4-for-5 while Nick Breen and Chris Corbett each hit home runs, but the Tars fell to No. 25 Lynn 13-8 Friday evening.

The Tars and Fighting Knights totaled 27 hits in the game. Rollins falls to 19-26 and 4-15 in the Sunshine State Conference while Lynn is now 31-11 and 12-7 on the year.

Matt Tulley got the start for the Tars throwing 4.2 innings and allowing nine runs (seven earned) on nine hits. Spencer Mumford came in for relief 3.1 innings and gave up four runs on five hits.

Several Tars had two more more hits on the day as Breen, Michael Dolan, Corbett and Kovar all had two hits or more. Coburn added a two rbi double while Philip Burket and Grant Ashline each added one hit to give Rollins 13 on the day.

Lynn began the scoring in the first inning as the Fighting Knights scored four runs on three hits to take a 4-0 early lead.

The Tars answered with two runs on two hits in the second inning as Christian Coburn doubled to left field, scoring Dolan and Burket.

Lynn tallied one run in the bottom of the second to retake a 5-2 lead. Rollins picked up four runs in the top of the third inning as Dolan advanced to second on a throwing error by the pitcher, scoring Garmendia. Kovar singled to right field scoring Dolan. The inning continued for Rollins as Corbett homered to left field, his fourth on the year, scoring Kovar as Rollins took a 6-5 lead.

The Fighting Knights would tie the game at 6-6 as Lefran scored on an error by first baseman Nick Breen. In the fifth inning Rollins took the lead again in a sea-saw battle as Coburn grounded out to the pitcher, scoring Kovar to give Rollins the 7-6 lead.

In the bottom of the fifth, Lynn scored three runs on two hits with one Tars error as the Fighting Knights claimed a 9-7 lead.

The Tars scored once more in the bottom of the sixth as Nick Breen hit his first home run of the year to cut the Lynn lead to 9-8.

Lynn scored three more runs in the sixth and one more in the eighth, winning 13-8.

Rollins left 10 men on base while Lynn left seven men on base.

The Tars visit the No. 25 Lynn Fighting Knights for a double-header Saturday, April 25 at 12 p.m.
