ROLLINS AT A GLANCE: The sixteenth-ranked
Rollins softball team halved a doubleheader with Palm Beach
Atlantic Tuesday afternoon at MLK Park. The Sailfish bested the
Tars 2-1 in the first game before getting shutout by Rollins 3-0 in
the second matchup.
Second Baseman Brittany
Johnson enters the series as the reigning Sunshine Player
Conference of the Week after hitting .524 (11-21) with six RBI's
over the previous seven games. The co-captain is also in the midst
of a 13-game hitting streak entering Thursday.
Niki
Fogle (24-5) is coming off a four-hit shutout of PBA, in the
process notching her DII-best 24th victory of the year.
The junior checks in with a 1.54 ERA and 171 strikeouts in 186.1
innings pitched. Junior Tiffany
Osmanski sports a perfect 7-0 record on the year with a 1.19
ERA.
SAINT LEO AT A GLANCE: The Saint Leo softball
team looks to rebound after being swept by SSC foe Florida Tech in
its previous matchup. The Lions were dealt a 1-0 loss in the first
game before concluding a 12-inning marathon on the wrong side of a
3-2 tally. The Green and Gold finished the series with a 6-3
defeat as the Panthers took the series.
Centerfielder McKenzie Burns is batting .394 with 50 hits
through 39 games this season, swiping 30 bases and scoring 41 runs.
Fellow senior Adriana Sanders leads the team in batting average,
hitting at a torrid .484 clip. The third-baseman also leads the
team in RBI, plating 36 runners on the season.
Junior Alana Tabel leads the pitching staff with a 1.00 ERA,
ranking her first in the SSC and 12th in Division II. The
right-hander sports a 12-4 record through 105 innings of work. The
Saint Leo pitching staff ranks sixth in Division II in ERA with a
team 1.49 mark.
LAST SEASON: The Lions captured the first game
last year 7-4 but Rollins responded to win the series, taking both
games on March 30, 2014 by scores of 2-0 and 8-4.
NEXT UP FOR ROLLINS: Rollins will host Florida
Tech in a three game SSC series on April 10-11.
