Rollins softball team cruised to a 7-1 victory over Saint Leo
Thursday evening at the Saint Leo Athletic Complex. Niki Fogle
twirled a four-hitter to pick up her nation-leading 25th
victory of the year.
Rollins improves to 32-6 (12-4) with the victory while Saint Leo
falls to 28-12 (4-9 SSC) on the year.
Rollins took the lead in the first inning, loading the bases
with a walk and two singles and scoring a pair on a two-out
misplayed chopper to the Lions shortstop.
Chelsea Reed doubled home Courtney Durbin In the top of the
third to extend the Tars lead to 3-0.
Saint Leo would get one run back in the bottom of the inning to
pull within two.
Rollins again loaded the bases in the fourth inning, pushing a
run across on catcher's interference and two more on Brittany
Johnson's single up the middle.
The Tars walked home another run in the fifth inning to extend
the lead to 7-1.
Niki Fogle was on-point all night, holding the Lions to four
hits over seven innings. The junior didn't allow an earned run and
struck out six.
SSC Player of the Week Brittany Johnson went 1-2 at the plate
with two runs scored and two batted in.
These two teams will play two more times tomorrow with the
doubleheader starting at noon.
