WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 11, 2015) -

Rollins trailed much of Saturday's game but held tough, eventually tying the score late but eventually fell to Saint Leo in SSC play, 12-9.

Before the game, Rollins celebrated the careers of six seniors: Jake Flynn, Connor Ronan, Mac Walker, Stephen DeFlumeri, Chris Ross and the late Will Hauver. Hauver was represented in the ceremonies by his parents Lyndall and Bob and his brother Tommy.

With the loss, the Tars fall to 6-8 overall and 2-3 in conference while the Lions improve to 7-6 and pick up their first win in the SSC, now sitting at 1-3.

Saint Leo outshot Rollins, 41-33, for the game and finished with 24 ground balls compared to 18 for the Tars.

A.J. Gogan, Jack Vonarb and freshman David Talda all scored twice for Rollins in the loss with Nicholas Schultz, Adam Stefanowicz and Morgan Baker adding a goal apiece. Baker and Andrew Matthews both recorded assists. Junior Alex Petsos went 12-22 on face offs with three ground balls.

Both Dylan Yonts and Jake Gilmour scored three times for Saint Leo with Yonts also finishing with three assists for six points. Will Cothron finished 13-22 on face offs with Chad Marino pitching in two goals and an assist.

In goal, Jake Hogan recorded 12 saves for Rollins while his counterpart Dave Moore made nine saves in 60 minutes.

Saint Leo came out firing, pulling out to 4-1 lead with 2:27 left in the first before a late score by Gogan sent the game to the second with Rollins trailing 4-2.

Baker would pull the Tars back within a score less than 30 seconds into the second but the Lions would answer with a 4-1 run over the next 12 minutes to take an 8-4 lead with 2:19 left in the half.

A pair of Vonarb scores would then sandwich a Lions goal, his first coming late in the half followed by his second early in the third to start a 4-0 Rollins run that extended into the fourth to tie the game at 9-9 with 7:04 left.

Unfortunately, the Lions came back with three straight scores down the stretch to secure the win.

Rollins will now wait for seeding the SSC Tournament, with the semifinal set for Friday, April 24 and will be hosted by the highest seed.
