ROLLINS AT A GLANCE: Last time out, after
watching a late second half lead disappear at the end of
regulation, No. 15 Rollins rallied in overtime to defeat previously
unbeaten Mount Olive, 11-10. In a game that saw four ties and one
lead change, both teams played pretty even. The Trojans narrowly
outshot Rollins, 22-20, and both finished with 13 ground balls. The
Tars, however, did come away with 15 draw controls compared to
Mount Olive's 10.
Tyler
Thomas continued her offensive onslaught to begin her junior
season, finishing with four goals and an assist while Taylor
Burns match her with four scores of her own, tying a career
best. Kristina
Coppolino added a goal and an assist with Emily
Eddowes and Brittany
Eveler each pitching in one goal; Eveler's proving to be the
game-winner in OT.
Through six games, Rollins ranks in the top-25 in Division II in
total points (3rd - 127), caused turnovers
(11th - 10.67/game), scoring offense (19th 0
14.67 goals/game), ground balls per game (20-th -21.50), draw
controls (21st - 14.5/game) and scoring margin,
outscoring opponents by more than four goals per game.
Individually, Ty. Thomas still leads the country in total goals
(29) and points (33) while Coppolino and Angelica
Perdomo are tied for 12th in the nation in assists
with seven each. Burns is 15th in goals scored (14)
while Malorie
Olin is 8th in saves with 37.
The Spring of 2015 marks the eighth season for Head Coach Dennis
Short, posting a record of 42-13 over the last three seasons,
including a pair of trips to the NCAA National Semifinals. Short
continues to build one of the most successful programs across all
of Division II. In his seven years at the helm, Short has produced
eight All-Americans, the South Region Midfielder, Defender, and GK
of the Year, and a pair of Final Four appearances.
STONEHILL AT A GLANCE: Last time out, Stonehill
scored the first seven goals and never looked back in cruising to a
20-7 victory over The University of Findlay.
Senior Brooke Rudden posted a seven point day to lead Stonehill
to victory with four goals and three assists to go with two draw
controls and a ground ball. Senior Cassandra McGill added three
goals and an assist for four points while classmates Mikayla Couch
and Elizabeth Lane each netted three goals. Lane also contributed
five draw controls, three caused turnovers and three ground balls,
while Couch collected four draws and two ground balls with a caused
turnover. Lane is currently 12th in the country in draw
controls per game, averaging 6.50.
Senior Ashley Armstrong played all 60 minutes in goal for
Stonehill and finished with a season-high seven saves. Armstrong is
now seventh in Division II with a goals against average of
5.00.
Through a pair of games the Skyhawks are fifth in the country in
scoring margin (13.50), sixth in scoring defense (5.00 goals/game)
and seventh in scoring offense, averaging 18.50 goals per game.
Stonehill is also sixth in draw controls per game at 18.00.
Katie (Lambert) Conover, one of Stonehill's most decorated
student-athlete alumnae, is now in her seventh season as head
women's lacrosse coach. During her first six seasons, Conover has
led the Skyhawks to 79 wins, six Northeast-10 Conference postseason
appearances, one conference title, and two NCAA tournament bids
SERIES: The Tars are 3-2 all-time against
Stonehill, winners of the last three meetings.
