WINTER PARK, Fla.. (March 6, 2015) - Peter
Nicoletto and Skip Kovar went 2-for-4 as Rollins won 11-3
against Assumption Friday afternoon from Alfond Stadium.
Rollins (11-9) has won five of their last six games during
Baseball Week.
Left fielder Skip Kovar scored three runs and added three rbi's
while Peter
Nicoletto also added two hits and scored twice. Christian
Coburn stole three bases to add to his total of 15. Coburn, Philip
Burket, Nick
Breen, Evan
Rivera and Grant
Ashline all contributed one hit, giving the Tars nine on the
day.
The Rollins bullpen came up strong again, allowing no runs on
three hits in five innings of work. Matt Tulley received his second
win of the year after starting four innings and allowing three runs
on seven hits.
The Tars trailed 1-0 entering the bottom of the first and tied
the game 1-1 after Nicoletto drove in Coburn with an rbi single to
right field.
Rollins scored twice in the second, once more in the third and
once in the fifth and led 5-3.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Tars had three men walk, one hit
by pitch and only one hit but managed to score three runs and take
an 8-3 lead.
Nicoletto began the eighth with a single to center field. Kovar
entered with the bases loaded and delivered a sacrifice fly, which
intended on scoring just one run but instead cleared all bases
after a throwing error by right field scored all three.
Rollins continues the week against Concordia Saturday at 1:00
p.m.
