BELMONT, N.C. (March 7, 2015) -

Rollins fought back and even led late in the fourth quarter at 13th-ranked Belmont Abbey on Saturday afternoon but eventually dropped a heartbreaker in triple overtime, 11-10.

The Tars won the ground ball battle on Saturday but were outshot by the Crusaders, 44-28.

Morgan Baker and Adam Stefanowicz led Rollins with a pair of goals each while Carson Buell and Jack Vonarb both had a goal and an assist. Alex Petsos went 15-26 on face offs and collected a team best nine ground balls.

For Belmont Abbey, Riley Quinlan and Connor Sellars scored four times with three Crusaders recording a pair of assists each.

In goal, Thomas Troiano played the entirety for the Tars, finishing with a career high 22 saves, three away from tying a program record that was set in 2009.

The Crusaders jumped out to a two goal lead less than a minute into the game before the Tars fired back with four unanswered goals by four different players to take a 4-2 lead with 14:05 left in the second quarter.

Belmont Abbey came back with two more to tie the game heading into the half but Rollins would answer back with three more over a two minute span in the third to take their biggest lead at 7-4 with 11:18 left in the quarter.

The Crusaders would then come all the way back, erasing the three goal deficit with 2:07 on the clock in the third before Jared Selewski scored his second of the year to put Rollins back ahead 8-7 heading to the fourth.

Both teams would again exchange punches in the final period, both going on spurts of two unanswered scores. First Belmont Abbey went on their run to take a 9-8 lead before goals by Stefanowicz and Stephen DeFlumeri gave the Tars a 10-9 with 6:55 left in the game.

Quinlan would come back to score his fourth of the day to tie the game with 4:36 left, proving to be the last score before Sellars ended the game in the third overtime period, ending all the Tars' hopes of an upset.

Rollins will host Mercy on Tuesday, March 10th at 7 p.m. in their 2015 home opener. Live stream will be available on the Geico Tars Sports Network on RollinsSports.com.
