WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 21, 2015) -
Rollins dominated Saturday's game from the start, coasting to a
14-9 win over Adams State. The win snaps a four game losing
streak.
With the win, the Tars improve to 4-7 while the Grizzlies drop
to 1-4.
Adams State outshot Rollins, 41-40, but the Tars were able to
register 31 ground balls compared to the Grizzlies' 25. Rollins
also won 16-27 face offs.
Sophomore Carson
Buell led the Tars with four goals, tying a career high, while
classmate Jack
Vonarb recorded a six point day, finishing with three goals and
three assists. Morgan
Baker chipped in two goals and a pair of assists while A.J.
Gogan had a goal and two asissts. Chris
Ross scored twice with Nicholas
Schultz and Connor
Ashton adding a goal apiece. Alex
Petsos went 9-11 on face offs.
Danny Mayes matched Buell with four scores for the Grizzlies
while Josh Peterman finished with two goals and an assist on eight
shots. Ryan Helfand went 11-24 on face offs.
In goal, Rollins' Jake
Hogan picked up his first career win, recording eight saves in
60 minutes. Chris Bucciarelli finished with nine saves for Adams
State.
The Tars jumped out to a 5-0 lead just under 10 minutes into the
first quarter and never looked back.
Adams State would pull back to within three twice in the second
quarter but that was as close as they would come the rest of the
afternoon.
Rollins' 9-5 lead at the half ballooned to as many a seven early
in the fourth quarter when Vonarbs 20th goal of the year
with 7:27 left gave the Tars a 13-6 lead.
The Grizzlies would add three quick scores over the next four
minutes to cut the deficit to 13-9 before Baker's second of the day
with 1:52 left sealed the victory.
The Tars will be back in action on Saturday, March
28th, traveling to Florida Tech for an SSC match-up at 7
p.m.
