WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 19, 2015) -
Down early, the 12th-ranked Tars battled Lenoir-Rhyne
all afternoon on Thursday, eventually escaping with a 13-9 win. It
is Rollins' third win in a row and fifth victory in their last six
games.
With the win, the Tars improve to 8-2 while the Bears drop to
3-5.
For the game, Rollins outshot Lenoir-Rhyne by a wide margin,
33-20, and dominated the draw control battle, 16-7.

Thomas and Kristina
Coppolino led the way offensively in the win. Ty. Thomas
finished with five goals, giving her a nation's best 46 on the
year, while Coppolino scored twice to go a long with a game high
three assists and six draw controls. Sophomore Taylor
Burns chipped in two goals while Chelsea
Pinneke tied a career best with seven draw controls.
Lauren Donovan led the Bears with three scores and two assists
while Claire Wach finished with a pair of goals on three shots.
Both Aubriana Benedetto and Kelsie Swanson added a goal and an
assist.

Ricci combined for five saves for the Tars while Inez Flueck
recorded 11 saves in 60 minutes for Lenoir-Rhyne.
Rollins found themselves behind, 2-0, after seven minutes of
play before goals by Emily
Eddowes and Ty. Thomas pulled the Tars back even at the 21.21
mark of the first half.
Lenoir-Rhyne would regain the lead a minute later before the
Tars offense awoke, erupting for five answered scores over the next
22 minutes of play to take a 7-3 lead three minutes into the second
half.
Both teams would then exchange four goal spurts. First the Bears
scored four unanswered to completely erase the four-goal deficit
before the Tars roared back with four of their own, two by both Ty.
Thomas and Burns, to take an 11-7 lead with 9:08 left.
Lenoir-Rhyne would pull back within two with 4:37 left but
scores by Ty. Thomas and Coppolino put the game away down the
stretch.
Rollins will now travel to SSC rival, No. 6 Florida Southern, on
Friday, March 27th at 7 p.m.
