WINTER PARK, Fla.. (March 13, 2015) - Grant
Ashline went 2-for-4 with three rbi's while Christian
Coburn hit a three-run home run including four rbi's and a
double as Rollins defeated Barry 10-2 Friday evening.
Rollins (13-11, 1-3) picked up their first SSC win this season.
Barry drops to 11-9 and 1-3 in conference.
Matthew
Tulley picks up the win after completing seven innings and
allowing just two runs (one earned) while striking out 11 batters.
Tulley is 3-3 this season. Matt
Hendricks came in the eighth inning and earns his first save
after finishing off the final two innings and striking out four
batters.
Zach
Persky went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Alex
Miller, Carlos
Garmendia, Philip
Burket, Peter
Nicoletto and Chris Corbett all added one hit on the day to
total 11 hits for Rollins.
Trailing 2-0 entering the seventh inning Rollins batted around
the order as Persky led off the inning with a single. A Nick
Breen walk brought Nicoletto to the plate as the center fielder
hit an infield single scoring Persky. After a Corbett walk, Grant
Ashline tripled to right center clearing the bases, which
brought the crowd to their feet and brought a call for a pitching
change. Coburn doubled down the left field line scoring Ashline as
the Tars led 5-2.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Persky led off with a double
down the left field line. After Breen walked Nicoletto reached on a
throwing error by the pitcher scoring Persky. Corbett singled up
the middle scoring Breen as Rollins led 7-2. Ashline reached on a
throwing error by the pitcher bringing Coburn to the plate. Coburn
homered to left field for his first home run of the season giving
Rollins the 10-2 win.
Rollins continues SSC play with a double-header this Saturday,
March 14 against Barry at 1 p.m. from Alfond Stadium.
