SAVANNAH, Ga. (Feb. 21, 2015) The Rollins softball team took both games Saturday afternoon in Savannah, Ga., winning 9-1 over Newberry and 7-3 over Armstrong State. Hailee Keisling was 5-8 with a pair of doubles, a triple, and three RBIs.

Rollins was in control early in the matchup against Newberry Tiffany Osmanski helped her own cause in the circle in the first inning by blasting a two run homer over the center field fence. Sid Masso started the third inning with a single to center field and scored on Keisling's double to left center. Keisling advanced to third on an error by the left fielder and scored on Courtney Durbin's sacrifice bunt.

The Tars loaded the bases in the fourth and were able to plate three more runs to push the score at 7-0. The Wolves got one back in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run.

Hali Marshall knocked in another run with a pinch-hit single in the fifth and Rose Stevens led off the sixth with a single and scored on a Keisling single to set the final score at 9-1.

Osmanski tossed a gem in the circle, allowing one run on four hits while striking out three.

The second game of the day against Armstrong State was a back and forth affair. Rollins had a two run lead after its first two batters stepped to the plate. Keisling led off with a slicing double down the left field line and Brittany Johnson followed with her first home run of the season. Armstrong matched the feat with the leadoff batter getting aboard and the second batter, Alexis Mercer, adding a home run of her own.

Armstrong added a run in the bottom of the second but Rollins rallied back to tie the game 3-3 in the fourth. Chelsea Reed ended up on third after hitting a single that was misplayed by the right fielder. She later scored on Fogle's groundout.

Rollins took the lead in the top of the fifth at 4-3 after Keisling led off with a two-strike opposite-field triple and was singled home two batters later by Durbin. Rollins added another run in the sixth on a Chelsea Reed solo home run and another two in the seventh on RBI singles by Hannah Horwath and Reed. Rollins held the Pirates scoreless in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the 7-3 victory.

Fogle (4-0) pitched all seven innings, earning the win by holding Armstrong to three runs on eight hits. The junior also racked up four strikeouts.

Chelsea Reed was 4-6 on the day with a home run, two RBIs, and three runs scored.

Rollins continues the Pirate Classic III tomorrow with games against Newberry (10 a.m.) and Armstrong (12 p.m.)
