The Rollins softball team captured both ends of the doubleheader
Wednesday evening over Kentucky State by a combined score of 19-5.
Rollins took the first game by a score of 10-0 and the second
9-5.
Rollins improves to 4-0 on the young season while Kentucky State
falls to 0-9.
Rollins scored three runs in each of the first three innings in
the first game then tacked on the tenth in the fourth. The top
three batters in the Rollins lineup went on a tear. Hailee
Keisling, Hali
Marshall, and Courtney
Durbin went 7-9 with five extra-base hits and scored seven
runs. Marshall, making her first collegiate start, knocked a triple
in the first inning and lasered a home run over the right field
fence in the third. Durbin went 2-3 with a pair of doubles and a
home run.
Niki
Fogle and Hilary Hon combined to one-hit the Thorobrettes.
Fogle tossed the first three innings, striking out six, and Hon
finished up the last two frames, recording a strike out of her
own.
The second game of the night started with Rollins scoring eight
times and sending 11 batters to the plate in the first inning.
Durbin crushed her second home run of the day- a three run shot
over the right field fence. Freshman Rachel
Collins made the most of her first NCAA start, smashing a
two-run shot to dead center in the first frame and singling to left
field in the third. Fogle was 3-3 on the day and scored a run.
Tiffany
Osmanski made her second start in a Tars uniform, allowing one
earned run on five hits and striking out nine. Hon relieved her and
closed out the game by posting a scoreless seventh inning.
Durbin finished the day 4-7 with two doubles, two home runs, six
RBIs, and five runs scored. All 20 Tars in uniform saw action in
the second game.
These two teams will suit up for another doubleheader on
Thursday, Feb. 19, starting at 3:00 p.m.
