ROLLINS AT A GLANCE: Last time out, a young Tars team gave eighth-ranked Nova Southeastern everything they could handle last Saturday afternoon but eventually fell to the Sharks, 65-55. The Tars shot better than they have all season, going 21-52 (40.4%) from the field, including 10-22 from beyond the arc (45.5%), also a season high.

Junior Marie Gilbert led Rollins in scoring for the fifth time in eight games, finishing with 15 points. Jasmine Stone, Julia Ingler and Jen Farrell each chipped in six while Tanaya Jones added four points to go along with a career best nine rebounds. The junior also recorded three assists and a pair of steals.

Entering Monday, the Tars are averaging just under 60 points per game on 35 percent shooting. Defensively, Rollins is forcing 13.5 turnovers per game, with 8.0 steals and 3.1 blocks a night.

Gilbert is the lone Tar averaging double figures through eight games, putting up 11.9 points per game. Stone is netting 8.8 per contest followed by Ingler at 8.6 points per game.

Freshman Carly McLendon is grabbing 4.5 rebounds a night to lead the team while Cassidy Bailey, Stone and Jones are each averaging over one and a half assists per night.

Glenn Wilkes Jr. (Stetson '81) is in his 30th year leading the Tars. Wilkes is the winningest coach in Sunshine State Conference history, winning a record 13 regular season titles and eight SSC Tournament Championships. His career record of 653-215 season ranks ninth best among active coaches in Division II and 14th all-time. He has the sixth most victories in the history of Division II and ranks 34th all-time covering all divisions. Wilkes' winning percentage (.754) is the 33rd best among active coaches in all NCAA Divisions.

VIRGINIA UNION AT A GLANCE: Virginia Union University's women's basketball team, without playing a game, moved up three spots to 21st in the latest USA Today Coach's Poll, released on Tuesday, December 8.

The Lady Panthers are 5-0 on the season and are led in scoring by Kiana Johnson.

Johnson, a junior, is averaging 23.2 points per game for the Lady Panthers. VUU has four starters averaging in double-figures in scoring, with Lady Walker (17.8), Rahni Bell (13.2) and Ashley Smith (12.0) joining Johnson in double-digit scoring.

Walker leads VUU on the boards with an average of 10.0 rebounds per game.

Their last time out, Walker had 28 points and nine rebounds as the undefeated Lady Panthers downed sixth-ranked Edinboro 101-64 on Wednesday, November 25, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

Johnson had 20 points and 10 assists while Bell had 17 point of her own in the win.

The Lady Panthers are now 5-0, marking the team's first 5-0 start since the 2002-03 team started 5-0.

AnnMarie Gilbert is in her first year as Head Coach at VUU. With over 20 years of college coaching experience, AnnMarie Gilbert was the head coach at Eastern Michigan University from 2007-2012, where she compiled a 94-64 record. As head coach, the Eagles had three consecutive 20+ win seasons (2009-12) and received an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2012.

PFIEFFER AT A GLANCE: Last time out, he Pfeiffer women's basketball team (1-4, 1-3 CC) were outscored 29 to 17 in the fourth quarter as they fell to Barton (5-5, 3-1 CC) 66-63 on Saturday afternoon. Ariana Tillman scored 14 points to lead the Falcons on 6-of-12 shooting, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out two assists and had three steals.

Brianna Jones scored 13 points off the bench on 5-of-11 shooting, Meg Pritchard scored eight points, had four assists and three rebounds for the Falcons. Dajea Scott was 4-for-4 from the floor, scoring nine points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out seven helpers on the day.

As a team, Pfeiffer enters Monday averaging 58.2 points per game while allowing just over 60. They are shooting 37 percent from the field, including 32 percent from beyond the arc.

Safia Sheikh leads the team in scoring through five games, averaging 12.8 points a night. Pritchard is second on the team, netting 11.4 points per game to go along with a team best 4.8 boards.

Tooey Loy is now in his second season as the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Pfeiffer. Prior to his time in Misenheimer, Loy had 17 years of Division I coaching experience at nearby High Point University and was twice named the Big South Coach of the Year.
