Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (October 2, 2015) - The Rollins volleyball team squared up against Nova Southeastern in four tightly contested sets on Friday evening at the NSU Arena. After winning set one, 25-19, the Tars found themselves on the bottom end of the final three sets (25-23, 25-23, 25-21), falling to the Sharks by a final score of 3-1 in Sunshine State Conference action.

The loss dips Rollins to a mark of 1-11, and 0-4 in the SSC, while the Sharks advance to a record of 11-3, and 4-1 in SSC play.

Shannon McDonough led the Tars in kills, earning 14 on the night, followed by Rachel Sawyer with 12, Kianna Dieudonné with 11, and Bri Civiero with 10. Sawyer earned a double-double, adding 15 digs to her kill tally, while April Jackson posted a double-double of her own with 20 assists and 12 digs.

Rebecca Wilson led the team in digs with 21, while MaryEllen Pole earned a squad best 32 assists. Posting up at the net was Dieudonné, blocking six shots on the evening.

The Sharks were led by Dana Holger with a match high 22 kills, followed by Caitlin Donahue and Denvyr Tyler-Palmer with 11 each. Katie Pyles set a game best 45 assists, while Pyles and Megan Burns led the Sharks in digs with 14 apiece. Devyn Main posted a match best eight blocks.

Despite falling in the final three sets of the night, the Tars put up a fight. Set two saw three lead changes with the score tied eight times, with the third set seeing similar numbers. The fourth frame saw the score tied on 13 occasions, and saw the lead change 10 times. Overall, the match saw the score tied 29 different times.

The Tars return to action on Saturday, October 3, when they face Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. Game time is set for 4 p.m. Live stats and video will be provided by the Fighting Knights. Links to live coverage will be available on RollinsSports.com.
