GREENSBURG, Pa. (April 3, 2014) -
The Tars fell behind early and Seton Hill proved to be too much
late, eventually falling to seventh-ranked Griffins on the road by
a final score of 14-8.
Rollins drops to 6-5 on the year while Seton Hill improves to
6-2.
Nicholas
Schultz and Morgan
Baker led the way for the Tars with two goals and an assist
each. Schultz is now second on the team with 24 goals while Baker
takes over the team lead in assists with 12. Andrew
Matthews, Jack
Vonarb and Will
Hauver scored one goal apiece.
Sophomore Alex
Petsos went 9-24 in faceoffs with nine ground balls and Jake
Flynn led Rollins defensively with four caused turnovers.
Matt Delmonico led Seton Hill with five goals in the win while
Dylan Lefebvre finished with three goals and two assists. Anthony
Peluso went 17-25 on faceoffs.
In goal, Andrew
Sheerin suffered the loss for the Tars, playing the whole game
and made nine saves.
The Griffins jumped out to a two-goal lead early in the first
before scores by Vonarb and Schultz tied it at 2-2 with 1:29 left
in the quarter.
Seton Hill would come back with four unanswered, started with
Lefebvre goal with just three seconds left in the first, to take
their largest lead of the first half, 6-2, with 11:17 left in the
second quarter.
The Tars would answer the Griffin run, reclaiming momentum with
four straight scores of their own by four different players: Hauver
(9:56), Matthews (8:14), Baker (5:33), and finally Schultz at the
4:13 mark to tie the game at 6-6.
Unfortunately, Seton Hill finished the half with a 3-0 run to
take a 9-6 at the break.
The two teams played an even third quarter with two Rollins
goals sandwiching a pair of Griffin scores to send the game to the
fourth with the Tars down, 11-8.
Rollins would be shutout in the final quarter with Seton Hill
tacking on three more to end the game in the final of 14-8.
The Tars will be back in action on Sunday at Wheeling Jesuit in
Wheeling, W.Va. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
