DENVER, Colo. (April 11, 2014) -
Injury-hit Rollins suffered their worst lost in five years on
Friday afternoon, falling to Regis, 19-4. After graduating seven
starters from last seasons final four team, the Tars have lost
three starters in 2014 to season ending injuries, most recently
senior co-captain and second leading scorer Kelly
Thayer.
With the loss, Rollins falls to 7-5 while Regis improves to 9-3.
The setback is the Tars' second straight and their first two-game
losing streak since the last two games of the 2012 season.
Four different players scored for the Tars: Claire
Block, Chelsea
Pinneke, Alley
Rhinehart and Bridget
Donovan.
Danica Cutshall led the Rangers with four goals and four assists
while Erin Todd added three scores.
In goal, Elyse De
Lisle and Hannah
Ricci split time for Rollins, combining for six saves.
The first half was all Regis, jumping out to a 5-0 lead before
Cl. Block finally got the Tars on the board followed by Pinneke's
free position score to cut the deficit to 5-2 at the 5:37 mark.
The Rangers closed the half with three unanswered goals to take
a 8-2 lead at the half.
The second half was much of the same story with Regis adding 11
goals with a pair of Rollins scores sprinkled in to secure the
upset victory.
The Tars will turn right around and play Fort Lewis on Saturday,
April 12th at 3 p.m. ET. The game will be played at
Regis in Denver, Colo. For all the latest Rollins women's lacrosse
