WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 27, 2014) - The
Rollins College softball team overpowered Albany State Thursday
night at MLK Park, taking both games by scores of 6-1 and 9-3. Kristie
Hoeffer and Brittany
Johnson both belted a home run in each game.
Freshman Hailee
Keisling led of the game with a triple to left center and later
scored Courtney
Durbin's single up the middle. Hoeffer walked and came around
to score by way of a single and a pair of fielder's choices to push
the first frame lead to 2-0.
That was all the run support Niki
Fogle (W, 15-4) would need as she pitched seven strong innings
of two-hit softball. She finished with 11 strikeouts, one shy of
her season-high achieved versus Kentucky State.
Stephanie
Sullivan (W, 9-5) pitched all seven innings of Game Two,
allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out nine Lady
Rams.
Sophomore Brittany
Johnson went a combined 3-6 at the dish with three runs scored
and four RBIs. The second baseman doubled her existing season total
of one home run in the doubleheader, hitting one in each game.
Senior Jessica
Gipson blasted her first home run of the season in the fourth
inning of Game Two.
Hoeffer went 5-7 on the evening with a pair of home runs and
five RBIs. With tonight's performance, the Virginia-native takes
back the conference lead in hits, home runs, total bases and runs
batted in. She already held conference best marks in runs scored
and slugging percentage.
All of the Lady Rams scoring came on home runs by Ambrionna
Atkism, Chaconna Marks, and Kayla Alexander
