Tars Make Quick Work of Icabods

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 20, 2014) - A close match in doubles gave way to a Rollins runaway in singles as the 15th-ranked Tars beat 31st-ranked Washburn 9-0 Thursday afternoon.

The win evens Rollins' record at 7-7 on the year while the Icabods fall to 3-6.

Rollins' fifth-ranked doubles team of Will Kwok and Jason Alabaster won the top-flight match 8-6 over Bobby Florence and Arek Kozaczuk.

Adrian Di Felice and Cooper Maxwell won at No. 2 over Thilo Schlenker and Marko Keulers 9-7 while Ari Davis and Jacobo Herrero blankd Chance Joost and Jacob Long 8-0 at No. 3.

In singles, Rollins won all but one of the six matches in straight sets.

Kowk beat Florence 6-4, 6-0 in the No. 1 seeded match while 23-ranked Robin Marchione downed Kozaczuk 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 at No. 2. In the three match, 34th-ranked Alabaster shutout Schlenker 6-0, 6-0 and Di Felice beat Keulers 7-6(4), 6-4 at No. 4.

Ari Davis won 6-3, 7-6(3) past Joost in the No. 5 mach and Keegan Burger beat Long 6-1, 7-5 at No. 6.

The Tars have a quick turnaround, facing Bluefield State on Monday, March 21 at 3 p.m.
