Riding the momentum of a dominating 21-7 victory in the 2014
opener, the fourth-ranked Tars took the long trek north, traveling
to Charlotte, N.C. to play Queens University of Charlotte. Fans who

ROLLINS AT A GLANCE: The Tars opened the season
a week ago at Tampa, spoiling the Spartans' inaugural game, winning
in deciding fashion by a final of 21-7.
Sophomore Tyler
Thomas set a new career best with five scores while last years
leading scorer, Caroline
Lamere, finished with a hat-trick. Freshmen Brittany
Eveler and Taylor
Burns also scored their first collegiate goals in the contest
with Eveler finishing with a pair.
Senior Elyse De
Lisle earned the win in goal, collecting four saves in the
first half. Freshman Hannah
Ricci played the whole second half in her first collegiate
game, collecting a pair of saves, proving that Rollins has
undoubtedly, one of the best 1-2 goalkeeper combos in the
country.
Coach Dennis
Short is now in his seventh season, compiling a record of
69-25, including 32-4 over the past two seasons. In his six years
at the helm, Short has produced eight All-Americans, the South
Region Midfielder, Defender, and GK of the Year, and a pair of
Final Four appearances.
QUEENS AT A GLANCE: Queens University of
Charlotte has been voted by the SAC's head coaches as the preseason
favorite to win the conference's inaugural women's lacrosse
title.
The Royals finished last season with a 10-10 overall record
after their season came to an end in the 2013 Conference Carolinas
Tournament Championship game.
Attacker Jenna Ready and midfielders Brittany Barnwell and Arika
Zimmerman were all named Preseason first team All-SAC. Ready led
Queens in scoring last season with 72 points after notching 53
goals and 19 assists. Barnwell added 46 goals and 9 assists for 55
points. Both were named to Conference Carolinas All-Conference
First Team a year ago. Zimmerman finished last year with 29 goals
and 11 assists for 40 points.
Goalkeeper Danielle Horoschak was also named Preseason All-SAC,
after registering 1,068 minutes in the cage last season. Horoschak
totaled 155 saves, 35 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers.
Head Coach Julika Blankenship joined the Royals in Summer 2013
as the head women's lacrosse coach after leading Washington
College's program for five seasons. The Shorewoman turned in
winning records in four straight seasons with Blankenship at the
helm. In 2011, she earned Conference Coach of the Year honors.
THE SERIES: Rollins is 5-1 in the all-time
series, winners of five in a row with the lone loss coming in the
Tars' inaugural season in 2008.
