MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (October 4, 2014) -
No. 7 Rollins found themselves in a 2-0 hole early in the second
half with a late push falling short on Saturday afternoon,
eventually falling to 21st-ranked Barry, 2-1.
With the loss, the Tars fall to 7-2 on the year, 2-1 in the SSC,
while the Buccaneers improve to 5-1-1 and 2-0-0 in conference.
For the first time all season, Rollins was outshot, taking 20
shots compared the Barry's 21.
Senior Allie
Holly provided the offense for the Tars, her second goal in as
many games, with Nikki
Haimes adding an assist. Sophomore Paxton
Sickler took a game high six shots.
Shanice Robe and Lavinia Nkomo both scored their second of the
season for Barry with Rayah Seckler recording an assist.
In goal, Mary
Spring made a season high eight saves for Rollins while playing
the full 90 minutes. Becca Rogers and Paula Forero split time in
goal for the Bucs, combining for six saves.
Barry took an early 1-0 lead on Robe's score in the
17th minute and would extend their lead just out of the
half when Nkomo beat Spring in the 47th minute.
Holly would eventually cut into the Rollins deficit, scoring
after taking a pass from Haimes in the 59th minute but
the Tars would fail to find the equalizer, falling for the first
time in five games.
Rollins will now take a short break before traveling to Lynn on
Tuesday, October 7th at 4:30 p.m. Fans that can't make
