WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 24, 2014) - Shannon
McDonough led Rollins (13-11, 5-5) with nine kills and a .353
hitting percentage, but the Tars fell 3-0 to Barry (14-8, 4-5),
25-21, 25-16, 25-15.
Jennifer
Ceballos led the Tars with 14 digs and added four kills. Collyn
Welsch added 11 digs. Bri
Civiero contributed six kills and two digs.
MaryEllen
Pole led Rollins with 17 assists and Chelsea
Boretti added 12 assists. As a team, Rollins had 34 kills, hit
.167, added 39 digs, 30 assists and two blocks.
Ivana Didanovic led Barry with 12 kills and seven digs. Kristina
Boncheva added 11 kills and four digs. Jasmine Serna led the Bucs
with 14 digs. As a team, Barry had 46 kills, 42 assists, 45 digs,
hit .412 and had six blocks.
Set One: The Tars and Buccaneers traded points until Rollins
received two kills by McDonough had two kills to give the Tars a
10-8 lead. There were 13 tie scores and four lead changes in this
set. Barry began to pull away at 17-all as the Bucs had a kill,
service ace and drew a Rollins error to get the three point lead.
Barry won the set 25-21. Barry had 18 kills and one error while
hitting .447. Rollins hit 15 kills and only four errors while
having a .275 hitting percentage.
Set Two: Rollins fell behind early giving up six of the first
eight points, trailing 6-2. The Tars received kills by MaryBethany
Vincent and Bri Civiero to stay in the set trailing 15-9. Rollins
pulled within five, 17-12 after a kill by Katlyn Sawyer. Barry won
eight of the final 12 points to win the set 25-16. Rollins was held
to a .094 hitting percentage, with eight kills and five errors.
Barry had 17 kills and four errrors while hitting .351.
Set Three: Rollins pulled out to a 7-4 start as Kianna
Dieudonne, Kate Stefanski and Jenny Ceballos had kills to get
Rollins the lead. Barry won seven of the next 11 points to tie the
set at 11-all. Barry won 14 of the final 18 points to win the set
25-15. The Buccaneers had 11 kills and only one error while hitting
.455. The Tars had 11 kills and eight errors while hitting
.100.
