WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 10, 2014) - April
Jackson came up with her first double-double of the season, 23
assists and 19 digs to lead Rollins to a five-set comeback victory
against Saint Leo 25-20, 23-25, 22-25, 25-16, 15-7.
Rollins (11-5, 5-2) have won their last five SSC matches after
starting 0-2 and remain all alone in third place. The Tars have not
lost to an SSC opponent since September 19.

Pole had her first double-double of the year with 23 assists
and 10 digs. Bri
Civiero also added her first career double-double with 11 kills
and 11 digs. Abby
Jo Winsor filled in for Collyn
Welsch and had 18 digs and four assists.
Shannon
McDonough led Rollins with 15 kills while Jessica
Wilson added 11 kills, five blocks and a .292 hitting
percentage. Jenny
Ceballos added seven digs as the Tars hit .184 as a team, while
having 77 digs and seven blocks.
Alexa Griffith-Hardy led Saint Leo (9-7, 4-4) with 17 kills and
eight digs. Tawni Warren added 13 kills while Lauren Campbell had
12 kills and 15 digs. Yaidimar Santiago had 27 digs and Rachel
Olliff added 35 assists. As a team, Saint Leo hit .112, added 10
blocks and had 62 digs.
Set 1: The Tars opened the first set up with a 6-3 lead off
kills by Ceballos, Wilson and McDonough. At 13-12 Rollins won the
next four points with a kill by McDonough. Rollins pulled away with
a kill by Kate
Stefanski to give the Tars the 25-20 set win.
Set 2: Rollins began taking an early 8-6 lead off a kill by Katlyn
Sawyer. Tied at 13-all the Tars received another kill from
Ceballos to take a 14-13 lead. At 22-all, Saint Leo won three of
the final four points off two kills and an attack error by Civiero
to give Saint Leo the 25-23 set win.
Set 3: The third set featured 12 tie scores and eight lead
changes. At 10-all the Tars received a kill by Jessica Wilson to
give them an 11-10 lead. At 13-12 the Lions won the next three
points to give them a 15-12 lead. With the Tars up 22-20 Saint Leo
called a timeout and afterwards won the final five points off four
kills and a service ace to give the Lions the 25-22 set win.
Set 4: At 13-all, MaryEllen Pole set up Jessica Wilson for the
kill to give the Tars the lead and momentum as Rollins won the next
five points. At 20-15 the Tars ended up winning five of the last
seven points as Civiero ended up with four kills to give Rollins
the 25-16 set win.
Set 5: Rollins began pulling away from Saint Leo at 7-4 as the
Lions committed two attack errors and Sawyer received a kill to
give the Tars the 9-4 lead. At 9-6 the Tars won the next four
points off kills by Stefanski, Wilson and Civiero. One final kill
by Civiero and a service ace by Wilson gave the Tars the 15-7 match
win.
The Tars also made 57 kills, which contributes another $14.25 to
The Finley Project. Adding the October total to $40.75 (in three
matches).
