WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 27, 2013) - Rollins opened Sunshine State Conference play on the right foot as they defeated the Barry Buccaneers 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-19) Friday night at Warden Arena.

The Tars improve to 11-2 overall and 1-0 in SSC play, while Barry falls to 4-4 on the year and 0-1 in conference play.

Camille Indest led all scorers with 10 kills and one block. Kelly Merideth added a nine-kill effort with seven digs, one block and one assist. Jessica Wilson registered five kills, two blocks and a season-best four aces.

In the opening frame, Rollins jumped out to an early lead, but fell behind on a BU rally. The Bucs were able to extend their lead to four, but a 6-0 rally by the Tars put Rollins up by two, 20-18. A block by Camille Indest and Kate Stefanski secured the first set win, 25-21.

The Tars cruised in the next two sets, winning the second 25-17 and the third 25-19. Rollins had to battle from behind in the second set and led by as many as seven at the 21-12 mark on a bad set by the Bucs.

In the final set, Rollins went strong from start to finish and did not disappoint. The Tars recorded 10 more kills than the Bucs (17-7) with Merideth registering four of her nine. Collyn Welsch also recorded eight of her 13 digs in the third frame.

Rollins will be back in action on Saturday, September 28 as they host the Florida Tech Panthers. First serve is set for 4 p.m. Fans can follow the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
